5 Reasons to be Thankful When Living in Austin
While there is so much to be thankful for about our beautiful city, here are 5 reasons to be thankful for when living in Austin, TX.
Local music scene
Austin has long been known for its vibrant live music. Music in Austin ranges from folk to country to ethnic to rap and even reggae, you name it Austin has it. Music is the heart and soul of Austin! Most live music venues are particularly located in 6th street but we even have live music at the airport! Some of the best live music venues are ACL Live, Historic Scoot Inn, Stubb’s Bar-B-Q, Parish and Cedar Street Courtyard.
Recreational Activities
Austin offers an abundance of outdoor activities such as cycling, hiking, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking and with 300+ days of sunshine and an average temperature of 68 degrees, being active in Austin comes almost naturally. We are also fortunate enough to be close to swimming holes and water parks. For a nice long bike ride, hop on the paved Southern Walnut Creek Trail, it’s just short of 9 miles one way and it has a sunny and shaded route. Hamilton Pool is about a 40-minute drive away and is one of the most inviting geological phenomena of the Texas Hill Country which also provides hiking and running trails.
Great companies to work for
The city of Austin is flush with opportunity and is only expanding. Austin is home to a wide variety of industries, from hospitality and tourism to health and lifestyle to technology and science so that everyone can find opportunities. Some of the big companies we have here are Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google, Oracle, Dell, Cirrus Logic and Whole Foods.
Amazing food
Whether you like breakfast, brunch, lunch, happy hour, tapas, dinner or just dessert, Austin has you covered! Tacodeli and Veracruz All Natural have delicious tacos. Patika and Mour café have an amazing brunch selection. Also, Mour Café has an even better happy hour menu. Valentina’s and Terry Black’s have great BBQ. I could go on and on. I recently had ramen at Yoshiko in south Austin and I was very surprised how good it was! For dessert, we have Lick ice cream with a very unique menu of every-day and seasonal flavors or try Bananarchy, they offer frozen bananas covered or dipped with your favorite topping.
Location
Austin, the capital of Texas, is an inland city along the Colorado river bordering the Hill Country region. This makes it a convenient location for day trips to nearby wineries, breweries, distilleries, parks and small towns where you can enjoy great food, music, architecture, and local retail gems.
