Flow of the Real Estate Market
As we start the summer, the real estate market is softening up! Real estate agents are now getting a little bit of a break after probably one of the heaviest and most competitive seasons Austin has ever seen.
The slow down has to do with the yearly natural flow of the market. Yes, there's such a thing. This last season started super early. It seemed like everyone went home after their NYE party and started looking to buy in or anywhere around Austin. Not only were houses selling in 2 to 4 days, but sellers were getting top dollar for their properties. Talk about acting when the opportunity came around.
As far as the yearly flow of the real estate market, in Austin the spring seems to be the time when most people want to make a move. This doesn't mean that there are no houses for sale, it just means that the abundancy is not there. If you are a buyer, don't get discouraged, houses will still come on the market. Just not as many.
So, what are people doing at the end June? Yes, you guessed right, most people are on vacation or if you are from Austin, on staycation! But don't worry, the market picks right back up. Some are waiting to do just that, come back from vacation to put their house on the market and buy another one to get ready for the holidays. This starts to happen in early September and it goes through right before Thanksgiving.
In summary, whether you are buying or selling, knowing the ebb and flow of the market helps alleviate frustration and stress.
